The highly anticipated Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Annual General Meeting (AGM) failed to take place Monday night and has been postponed to a later date.

The AGM was adjourned for 30 days to allow for a forgiveness and reconciliation process over the ongoing leadership disagreements in the union.

Homeboyz RFU chair Oscar Mango, who made the adjournment proposal, called for the need to allow matters to be settled off the record before the AGM proceeds.

The idea was put on the table and following a majority vote in favour of the proposal, KRU chair Sasha Mutai adjourned the AGM, with the next one set to be held within 30 days.

“There are conflicts within the board that I feel it would not be proper to have this AGM while that is going on. I propose that we postpone it until we reach a consensus,” Erick Ondieki, Kisumu RFC treasurer said at the AGM.

Early March, there was shock within KRU circles as it was announced that Mutai had been suspended by the board.

However, the KRU chair moved to the Sports Dispute Tribunal and earned a reprieve from the tribunal, pending a formal disciplinary process.

Senior Counsel John Ohaga is in charge of the mediation on the side of the tribunal and is expected to weigh in on the matter with his report scheduled to be released April 2, 2025.

Mutai stands accused by other board members led by Secretary General Ray Olendo who point the finger of blame at Mutai for gross negligence and abuse of office. As such, a vote of no confidence has been instituted against the KRU chair.

Mutai was elected unopposed during the KRU's elections at the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 29 March 2023 at the RFUEA Ground in Nairobi.

Moses Ndale was voted in as the Vice Chairman with Olendo elected as Honorary Secretary.

Dr. Joshua Aroni retained his position as Honorary Treasurer.
